18U Matt Gallifent Signs Letter of Intent with Hudson Valley C.C. Vikings in New York
Matt Gallifent became the eighth Titan from the Class of 2022 to commit to a US College. The resident of Keswick, Ontario signed his letter of intent on the weekend with Hudson Valley Community College and offered multiple reasons for his school choice: “I committed to Hudson Valley because I truly felt it was the best school for me and my future baseball experience. The facilities look beautiful and the school all-around seems like a very nice and welcoming place.”
Gallifent noted that he’s looking forward to living in Troy, New York “mostly because it’s about being somewhere new. I never had a specific location that I had my heart set on. I really don’t know too much about New York so it will be a very cool and interesting experience for sure.”
The graduate of Keswick High School will be majoring in Entrepreneurship and elaborated on his goals as a student-athlete at Hudson Valley Community College: “My academic and athletic goals are to maintain a 70% average in my classes and to be a big part of the school’s pitching staff whether that may be in the bullpen or in the rotation.”
Gallifent expressed his gratitude towards the Titans and offered “a big thank you to Jim Stewart and Denis Bailey for giving me this opportunity and finding a great school such as Hudson Valley for me to attend.” 18U Head Coach and Coordinator of College Placement Denis Bailey offered insights regarding his Titans bullpen mainstay: “Matt is a back end of the bullpen guy with a winning mentality. He is competitive and reliable. He has the potential to be an eighth or ninth inning guy at the College level for the Hudson Valley Vikings.”
The 18U Pitcher’s highlight for the Titans “was closing out the club’s first win in the CPBL in the first game of the year.” Gallifent’s big save in his debut as a Titan certainly foreshadows a similar role he will play for the NJCAA Vikings.
The Titans Baseball Club congratulates Matt Gallifent on his signing with the Hudson Valley CC Vikings—our organization’s first player placement at the Troy, New York school.
