18U Titans Pitcher Graham Marshall Commits to Garrett College Lakers in Maryland

by Jim Stewart

18U Titans Pitcher Graham Marshall committed to the Garrett College Lakers last week.   The Barrie, Ontario resident became the tenth Titan from the Class of 2024 to sign his letter of intent with a US College Baseball program.  18U Titans Head Coach Kirby Smith offered insights into his ace relief pitcher:  “It’s an awesome feeling as a coach to see a player like Graham sign his letter of intent to play baseball at the next level. Graham has worked hard at his craft to be able to compete at a collegiate level. Graham is the type of player who does things the right way both on and off the field. He is a great teammate, hard worker, and a genuine person through and through. He is the type of person you are always rooting for. We are excited that Graham has the opportunity to further his baseball dreams and eager to follow him through that journey after he leaves the Titans. As his Head Coach, I'd like to congratulate Graham and his family on this milestone."

It’s evident from Coach Smith’s words of praise that Marshall has all the traits to flourish at Garrett College and the hard-throwing reliever expressed his satisfaction with his post-secondary destination:  “After consulting and considering offers with my family, we thought Garrett College had the best offer and checked all my “boxes” for a school.”

One of the boxes that the NJCAA Division 2 school checked was how comfortable Marshall felt in McHenry, Maryland when he visited the town and the Garrett College campus during the Titans’ US College Trip in October:  “I really liked the small town vibe of the school. It’s something I am going to look forward to.”

The graduate of Innisfil Secondary School outlined what he’ll be studying at Garrett College:  “I’m looking to go into a business administration and management as well as taking classes in marketing and sales.”  Marshall also told us about his goals as a student-athlete while attending the Maryland junior college:  “At Garrett, I want to hold a 3.7 GPA and secure a starting role on the baseball team.”

Marshall expressed his appreciation towards the Titans Baseball Club, especially Director of College Placement Denis Bailey, for securing his scholarship with the Garrett College Lakers:  “Coach Bailey did most of my communication with Garrett and made the process a lot less stressful.”

Coach Denis Bailey, who has had a busy Fall securing thirteen US scholarships so far for the Titans’ Class of 2024, assessed Marshall’s readiness for NJCAA D2 competition:  “Graham is a dependable arm and he can throw multiple days in a row.  He’ll be terrific and will compete very well at the next level.  Graham’s work ethic will allow him to refine his craft at the next level, too.”

Marshall was a lights-out relief pitcher for the 17U Titans this past summer and he reflected on some of the highlights from the 2023 season:  “My highlight would be the weekend I had 2 saves in one day with 5 perfect innings.  For sure that was the top moment as a Titan so far.”

Marshall offered some words of wisdom for the younger Titans about achieving post-secondary goals:  “Put in the work and fall in love with the process. You have an opportunity to play at a high level. In high school, take advantage of opportunities and work hard.”

The Titans Baseball Club congratulates Graham Marshall on his commitment to the Garrett College Lakers.  We look forward to Graham’s work on the mound for the 18U Titans this Spring and Summer and to his success on the bump as a Garrett College Laker in the Fall of 2024.
