Jordan Sfyndilis Commits to the Saint Xavier University Cougars

by Jim Stewart

18U Titans shortstop Jordan Sfyndilis has committed to the Saint Xavier University Cougars in the Windy City—Chicago, Illinois.  Sfyndilis is the fifth Titan from the Class of 2024 to commit to a US College with many other commitments imminent in November.  The talented middle infielder will join Titans graduate and 2021 CPBL All-Star Tarek Emara who is currently patrolling centerfield for the NAIA Cougars in the Land of Lincoln.

Titans 15U Coach and Director of College Placement Denis Bailey is sold on Sfyndilis’s skillbase and his capacity to be an impact player immediately at Xavier:  “Jordan has the opportunity to compete for a starting job right away.  Defensively, he is one of the better shortstops I have seen in a long time.  His bat continues to develop and I look forward to seeing it at the next level.”

Sfyndilis noted why he committed to the Saint Xavier University Cougars:  “It’s a great baseball program and competitive team, and a really good place to get an education.” The resident of Toronto expressed a high degree of expectation about living in Illinois and the deep baseball traditions in the Midwest:  “Starting a new chapter of my life alone in a different setting will be a great experience. I’m looking forward to the competitive baseball out there in Illinois.”

The Grade 12 Honor Roll student at Silverthorn Collegiate Institute in Etobicoke outlined succinctly his major at Saint Xavier University-- “I will be studying Doctor of Physiotherapy at SXU”—and delineated his laudable athletic and academic goals while in Chicago:  “To become the best baseball player I can be and to maybe get drafted one day and also help our team win games. Finally, I want to get my Master’s Degree in my area of study.”

Sfyndilis acknowledged the positive impact of the Titans organization—especially the Fall College Trip’s stop at Xavier in October--on his formative years as a student-athlete: “The training and practice with the Titans has made me become a better ballplayer and being on the College Trip gave me a great opportunity to get seen by this school.”  He reflected on his highlight as a navy and orange-clad Titan:  “Going 4/4 with 3 RBI’s in a life-or-death game in the States during a tournament at the end of the year, and also the way I’ve just improved as a player ever since being on the Titans.”

Sfyndilis offered words of wisdom to the younger Titans regarding their post-secondary dreams:  “Don’t compare yourself and where you’re going to other people or your friends at school. Focus on yourself and getting better and getting a good education. Don’t compare yourself to someone else’s school as it can kill your ego and dismiss your success. Be proud of what you do and how far you’ve come and keep improving yourself and working hard.” Sage advice from the Titans’ 18U shortstop and soon-to-be graduate of Silverthorn Collegiate Institute.

The Titans Baseball Club congratulates Jordan Sfyndilis on his commitment to the Saint Xavier University Cougars for the 2024-25 NAIA season.  We wish him all the best on and off the field in his final CPBL season with the Titans in the Spring and with the NAIA Cougars in the Fall.
