18U Outfielder Joshua McBride became the tenth Titan from the Class of 2022 to commit to a US College. The resident of Lisle, Ontario committed to Genesee Community College in Batavia, New York on the weekend. The versatile McBride chose to attend GCC and play for the NJCAA Cougars because “it checked every box I had for what I wanted from a school that I would attend.  Four checked boxes included Genesee’s location, size, program, and coach.  I also really enjoyed my visit there and could see myself going to GCC.” Another compelling reason he chose the Batavia, New York community college was its relative proximity to The Big Apple:  “I’m looking forward to visiting New York City because I’ve always wanted to go there.”

In addition to his statewide travel plans, the graduate of Nottawasaga Pines Secondary School also has a clear academic focus for his studies at Genesee CC:  “My major area of study will be their  ‘Fitness and Recreation:  Personal Training Program’.” McBride also delineated his education and athletic goals while learning at GCC and playing for the Cougars:   “My goals are to maintain a high average throughout my time there. My athletic goals are to work as hard as I can, to grown as much as a can as a player, and leave with an even bigger love for the game than before.”

The 18U Outfielder/Pitcher acknowledged the importance of the Titans’ program-- specifically the October US College excursion-- in terms of its effect on his decision-making:  “I first learned about Genesee CC on our Fall College Trip with the Titans.  After the trip, our Head Coach Denis Bailey helped me get in contact with the Head Coach at Genesee and we scheduled a visit.  The Titans also helped me grow as a player over the last three years more than I ever have with any other team.”  Coach Bailey has witnessed McBride’s growth and assessed his veteran OF/P:  “McBreezy is the kind of player that works hard and does well.  He has the potential to be an effective two-way guy at the next level.  Most importantly, he has untapped potential on the mound and I believe this potential will be fully unlocked in the US with the Cougars.”

McBride noted that his improved defensive play as a Titans outfielder was very important to him:  “The highlights of my career as a Titan were all the diving catches I made in the outfield.  They made me feel like Superman afterwards.” He offered a concise pearl of wisdom befitting a caped superhero:  “The best way for a younger Titan to be a successful student-athlete is to put responsibility before leisure activity.”

The Titans Baseball Club congratulates Joshua “McBreezy” McBride on signing his letter of intent with the NJCAA Genesee Cougars—the tenth member of the Titans Class of ‘22 to commit to a US College in Fall 2021.  All the best, Josh, in Batavia, New York!
