Matthew Paolucci Commits to Life in Sparkill, NY, and the St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans

by Jim Stewart

18U Third Baseman Matthew Paolucci became the sixth Titan from the Class of 2024 to commit to a US College.  The resident of Toronto committed last week to the St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans.  Titans Director of College Placement and 15U Coach Denis Bailey provided insights into Paolucci’s prospects with the NCAA Division 2 Spartans:  “Matt is a corner infielder who provides power from the left side.  His bat is definitely college-ready and I look forward to seeing his numbers next year at school.”

The Grade 12 Honor Roll Student enrolled in Silverthorn Collegiate Institute’s High Performance Athlete program in Etobicoke offered multiple reasons why he selected St. Thomas Aquinas College and Spartans’ baseball: “The reputation of the university, the facilities for both my academics and athletics are second to none.”  Paolucci was also drawn to the similarities of Sparkill, New York and the GTA:   “It is similar to my hometown in terms of geographical location, climate, and the people are friendly.”

In addition to his connectivity to the environs of The Empire State, Paolucci has also found that the Sports Management program at St. Thomas Aquinas College is to his liking.   He outlined his laudable athletic and academic goals as a student-athlete with the St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans:  “To become a leader both on and off the field while achieving Dean's List merit.”

Paolucci’s lofty aims are connected to what the Titans have done to help him achieve his post-secondary dreams:    “[The Titans have] taught me to take initiative and be persistent in pursuing my goals.”  In addition to helping with the inculcation of these qualities, the talented corner infielder was also grateful to the organization for his development as a ballplayer:  “Playing every day helped me improve my skills.”

He offered succinct advice in the form of a motto for younger Titans as they contemplate their post-secondary goals and the rigors of off-season training:  “Dream, Believe, and Achieve.”

Congratulations to Matthew Paolucci upon his commitment to the St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans.  We hope that his motto “Dream, Believe, and Achieve” manifests itself in the classroom at St. Thomas Aquinas College and on the baseball diamond with the Spartans.  We wish Matthew all the best this Spring with the 18U Titans and next Fall with the D2 Spartans in Sparkill, New York.
