Nathan Joly is off to New York after committing to the Tompkins Cortland Community College Panthers
18U Titans pitcher Nathan Joly has committed to Tompkins Cortland Community College. Joly is the fifth Titan from the Class of 2025 to commit to a US College and joins teammate and catcher Ryan Barbeau at the NJCAA D3 in Dryden, New York.
Titans Director of College Placement and 17U Head Coach Denis Bailey complimented Joly’s competitive edge on the mound as a key attribute for success at TC3: “Nathan is a gamer. He has the ability to pitch deep into games and will have the opportunity to contribute right away. I look forward to seeing his development this offseason and the momentum he gains this summer into his freshman season.”
Joly, a resident of Innisfil, is looking forward to his freshman season at Tompkins Cortland and was impressed by the camaraderie and spirit demonstrated by Panthers players: “I committed to Tompkins Cortland Community College because I saw how close they were as a group, and it instantly made me want to be a part of it in my future. These guys are all like brothers, no one is treated differently, and they are always picking each other up and keeping great energy throughout the game. I want to be a part of this for the next two years because they all think like winners and never for a second will back down.”
Joly is also looking forward to some of the attractions of New York including attending “Cornell's football games, about 20-30 minutes from the Tompkins Cortland campus.”
A graduate of St. Peter’s Catholic High School in Barrie, Joly will be studying business at Tompkins Cortland Community College. He outlined his post-secondary goals as a student-athlete in New York: “My athletic goal is to have two successful years on the mound at Tompkins Cortland and make big strides in the weight room; as a pitcher, that will help me to transfer to a four-year school afterward. On top of this, in the classroom, I'm looking to achieve a 3.0 GPA or higher.”
The crafty hurler expressed his gratitude to the Titans Baseball Club for “running the college trip. It assisted me in finding the level of baseball that would be a good fit for me. This trip allowed me to feel what it's like to pitch against college hitters. Coach Bailey also helped walk me through the whole process of committing, which helped me be less nervous when making the call to Coach Williamson.”
Joly’s success on the annual Titans College Trip was the highlight of his Titans career: “My Titans highlight took place two years ago when I pitched five innings, gave up five hits and two earned runs, and struck out two at Lewis and Clark Community College.”
During his reflection on his days with the Titans and the important choices he made, Joly offered timely advice to the younger players in our program: “Some advice I'd give to younger players in the program about achieving post-secondary goals is just to show up every day, even if you do not feel like practicing that day, or you may not want to make the drive down. In the end, once you achieve your goals, all the hard practices will be worth it.”
Congratulations to Nathan Joly on your commitment to Tompkins Cortland Community College in Dryden, New York.
The Titans Baseball Club is proud of your achievement and we look forward to your fine work on the mound for the 18U Titans this Spring and the Panthers in Fall 2025.
