Titans Baseball Community’s Plan to Give Back to the Southlake Health Centre

Being a part of the Titans Baseball community involves performing civic duties to make our society a better place in which to live.  Titans Director of Baseball Operations and 17U Head Coach Lawrence Vera is encouraging all players, coaches, staff, and parents to participate in the Southlake 5K Virtual Challenge taking place from September 23-27. This is a rally cry to support our local hospital where our own players have gone for health care ranging from treatment of “muscle sprains and strains to x-rays for injured arms and legs and even head injuries from being hit by a rogue baseball” as noted by Coach Vera.

“We want to make sure we support our community and our hospital because it takes care of our players,” said Vera. “Now it’s time for us to take care of our hospital.”

Simply stated, this is about giving back.

This is an opportunity for our baseball community to engage in some collective healthy exercise and contribute meaningfully to society by improving Southlake’s resources to better serve the northern sector of York Region and southern sector of Simcoe Region.

Want to get involved? Register to join our team today here and join us September 23rd to 27th, 2020 for the SL5K Virtual Challenge – a virtual 5-day kilometre challenge to see just how much ground you can cover to support your local hospital. This is a fun event for all ages and abilities. Participate in ANY distance-based activity (run, walk, bike, row…whatever strikes your mood!) with ANY distance goal. This is an excellent community service opportunity for our student-athletes and would look very good on a resume and in a letter to a prospective US College to show your civic pride and participation.  Seize the day and support Southlake!

Let’s get together and do a great job on this community project, Titans!  Contact Lawrence Vera at info@titansbaseball.ca for additional information!
