Titans Coronavirus Strategy

by Jim Stewart

The Big Cleansing of our facility, courtesy of Coach Bethune’s crew of cathartic cleaners, is complete.  Thanks to this intrepid group for sanitizing and preparing True North for our imminent return to the practice field for the 2020 season. The Fieldhouse will be closed until Monday, March 23.   We will send a notice and a revised schedule by March 22 regarding the prospective re-opening of True North and the resumption of practices.

When we re-open, players showing no signs of the coronavirus are welcome to join us for practices, including live work and bullpens.  The following protocols will be in place for players attending the practices:

--use sanitizers before and after practice;

--no hand-shaking or fist pumps, even if the play or pitch or hit is outstanding;

--no sharing of water bottles;

--keep distance of six feet from teammates during drills, wherever possible;

--academic options:  book times to meet with Jim about school work or SAT so players can get ahead in the classroom before the busy baseball schedule kicks in during Spring 2020.  If players have any questions about March Break writing assignments or registering for our SAT prep test on April 4, please do hesitate to contact Jim at 905-717-0374 or jm_stewart@rogers.com

A key reminder:  Players MUST NOT come to the facility if they have coronavirus symptoms such as a fever, sore throat, cough, upper respiratory congestion, or fatigue.  Please see the Ministry of Health’s comprehensive list of symptoms and their strategies to keep this plague from spreading to your family. If families have flown out of the country, we ask that you self-quarantine for 14 days before returning to the True North Fieldhouse. Let’s err on the side of caution.
