Titans Top CPBL Performances--Week 2

by Jim Stewart

The 15U Titans continued their excellent start to the CPBL season by taking three of four games from the Oakville Royals to improve their league record to 5-2-1.

15U Coach Denis Bailey noted that the three-win-weekend was the result of a strong team-wide performance ranging from excellent pitching to versatile offense to solid defense:  “The boys on the mound really locked in for us this weekend. Everyone competed with getting ahead early and competing on each pitch. As a team, we had a 3.23 ERA.  Offensively, we did a little bit of everything. Hit for power as well as executed small ball when needed. Defensively, we went into the weekend wanting to take care of the baseball and we did just that.”

Coach Bailey singled out four individual performances at the heart of the team’s 3-1 weekend:

Caiden Moncada went 4 for 9, collected 3 RBI, scored 4 runs, and drew two walks to spearhead the Titans offense.

Zein Moffat provided his team with a quality start as he threw 5.1 innings, yielding three earned runs while striking out 6 and walking none.

Sam Hess put forth another quality start by throwing 4.1 IP, yielding zero runs while striking out 5 and walking 3.

Will Hillyard also blanked the Royals in his  3.2 innings of work on the mound.

16U Head Coach Eddie McKiernan pointed to a pair of fine performances versus the Terriers:

Nick Savor pitched 6 innings, yielding only 3 hits and no runs to earn the W in the Titans’ 2-1 victory over the Terriers.

In the 2-1 win, Nate Graham provided all the offense his team would need with a 2-run homer.

17U Head Coach Jesse Barker centered out the performance of Mark Gregato and Eric Gregato who provided a pair of arms for the ball club versus the Toronto Mets:  “The Gregato twins were called up to help our ailing pitching rotation and the two combined to hold the Mets to 3 runs.”
