Titans’ Top Ten CPBL Performances from Week 1
The Titans Baseball Club embarked on its fifth season in the CPBL on May 1 and 2.
Many Titans rolled out great numbers to kick off Season #5, but University of Rio Grande Red Storm commit Ryan DaSilva distinguished himself with a glittering two-way performance versus the Ottawa Canadians.
DaSilva's productive weekend showcased his talents in the batter’s box and on the mound for the 18U Titans. The resident of Alliston went 5 for 9 in a four-game series versus Ottawa with two doubles, three RBIs, one run scored, and two walks. DaSilva also gave the Titans’ senior squad a quality start by pitching 5.1 innings with five strikeouts before exiting the game with the lead.
Teammate Ben Yablonsky—alongside DaSilva-- provided the 18U Titans with a potent 1-2 punch at the plate. Yablonsky blasted four doubles, batted .333, drove in four runs, and scored two runs versus the Canadians.
Dual player Yuya Nakamura provided the 17U Titans with a quality start versus the Ontario Royals. Nakamura pitched 6.1 strong innings, scattered four hits, surrendered three earned runs, and struck out five Royals. He also impressed with the bat by going 3 for 10—scoring one run, stealing two bases, and earning a walk.
Veteran Titan Tyson Kushnir continued his hot hitting ways for the 17U squad by batting .500 (4 for 8) versus the Royals. “Kush” legged out a triple, drove in one run, scored a run, earned a walk, and stole two bases.
Three players on the 16U squad distinguished themselves. Jack MacDonald went 2 for 5 with two RBI in first two games of the weekend. The 16U Titans also got a pair of quality starts from Will Hillyard (five innings with 6Ks allowing only two hits) and Nate Macrae (five innings allowing one infield hit and accruing five strikeouts.)
A pair of 15U Titans—Marcus Rodriguez and Everett McClocklin-- batted .400 versus the Ontario Blue Jays. Rodriguez picked up a double versus OBJ and McClocklin scored two runs and stole three bases.
Aiden Stewart provided a quality start versus a tough OBJ lineup by throwing six innings and allowing four runs. Stewart also chipped in with his bat by collecting two hits.
Honorable Mention:
A pair of 17U pitchers provided strong relief performances on the weekend: Josh Hill struck out two Royals in his inning of work and Carson Holden went 1.1 innings on the bump and struck out three.
